Let Freedom Ring

Let Freedom Ring
It’s a beautiful cloudless nigh in San Diego, starts are shining. I’m about to go to a concert with some great friends; I should be in good sprits. And I am, but I’m also deeply distraught. Our world is in bad shape, has been for a long while. I have been contemplating many things lately, mainly why is our county so depressed? I’m not depressed, but on a whole our nation is sad. You see it in the faces of people. You hear it on the radio, so much forced joy. I love my country, love the people I know, I love. But I also am filled with a deep-seated anger, a rage growing. It’s not at a person specifically, it’s more at all of us, my self included. What are we living for in these trying days?

Money, fame, prosperity… all of these material gods we kneel to daily. I do it, I watch TV, I feel lost with out my phone, I check my MySpace far too often. Why? Its not even about need, its about comfort. Do I need a cell phone? No! Do I need to watch Weeds every week? NO! Do I need a car? NO! I want these things, and the list is endless. We want all these things and when we cannot get them we blame others for our lack. We like to blame our Government, which is a government that was designed by the people for the people. What do we need the government for? Schools, roads, military, and depend on them for so much more.

It’s easy to just let a government hold our hand from cradle to grave, but that is where corruption is breed, if were not responsible for our own lives who will be? Uncle Sam is becoming stronger everyday. He educates us, transports us, protects us, and we give him ¼ of what we earn, at the very least. We must take back responsibility for our lives, our children, and our country. We let government-protected monopolies provide our power, water, and most other goods. We shop at Walmart, Target, Costco and other huge conglomerations because they offer the comforts we claim to need. How many times have you said I need more clothes? How many times have you gone home because you needed to watch your TV show?

The problem with our nation is not a corrupt government, but an under motivated populous. As long as Uncle Sam provides what we “need” we are quiet. But as soon as something goes wrong in the world we freak out. We blame, saying the government should do something. No, we should do something, I should do something. So I am. From now on I am making it my goal to teach, to show others why is wrong with this world. Government is wrong, it only oppresses our freedoms, and the American government was designed to do the opposite of just that. When we do not protect and stand up for our own rights, but entrust them to a system we should expect nothing but a limitation of those freedoms. Our military and police forces were designed to serve, but now they run the country, our taxes flow from our pay checks to the coffers of a system bent on repression of freedom. Its visible every where, on my campus a state funded establishment you would think that it would be a public forum, yet only a designated few feet is free for speech, and many times even there limitations are evident.

Its time to hold up signs, mouth off to government officials, talk trash on over taxation and under representation. We pay their bills, they owe us respect, not the other way around. People say respect the president, sorry what, the president owes me respect, I am his employer, as are you. Bush is our representative, not our fuer, not our King he has no divine right to rule, but only to direct our assets to do our will. His own personal opinions are not valid for decision making, only ours our. Lets kick out the jams, and make this government know we are their boss, and no longer will we sit idle by as they trample our freedoms. America is ours lets start acting that way!

Yours in Christ
